list1=re.findall(regex,shop)
print list1

OP : ['hello', 'seattle', 'what', 'have', 'you', 'got']

or simply \w+ is enough

import re

shop="hello seattle what have you got"
regex = r'\w+'
list1=re.findall(regex,shop)
print list1
